Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed…Something Blue?

If you are sticking to this tradition of the 4 somethings, it can be tricky when choosing your something blue. Tricky, especially if it doesn’t blend in with your wedding colour palette. Some brides may opt for blue shoes, a piece of blue jewellery, a blue garter… are wedding garters even still a thing!? this is defo a wedding trend we’d personally be happy to see that back of!

Anyhoo, if you don’t want to go down the blue shoes, blue jewellery route – let’s have a look at some alternatives that might work for you.

BOUQUET RIBBON:

We love nothing more than oversized, wild wedding bouquets – if this too is your vibe and your wedding palette features neutral tones – this might be the something blue that will work for you. Why not complete your wedding bouquet with a baby blue flow of trailing ribbon – it will look so dreamy as you glide up the aisle and will look oh so stunning in your wedding photos too.

BLUE HINTS:

You can also add a splash of blue into your wedding décor. If you are having a drinks reception, you could sprinkle tinted blue milk jars around your reception area, finished off with some stems of flowers which would tie in with your wedding florals of course. Super simple and so pretty.

DO ME A FAVOUR:

Favours at weddings are completely down to the couple, some go for them & others don’t – it’s totally a couple’s choice, however keep in mind – it can add a bulk to your budget so definitely consider this add on carefully. Here is where you could order some nice sweet treats for your guests – ‘’Our something blue is a treat for you!’’. These treats really could be anything, blue macarons is what we have featured here (nom nom nom!). You could also opt for Blue M&M’s, Blue smarties – whichever blue treat you fancy! If you don’t want to have favours at your wedding, this could instead be a little touch for your guests to enjoy at the drinks reception, everyone loves a nibble!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR:

Here are two options that we love, love, LOVE! So you’re getting married and chances are you’re having a photographer capture your special day. Well, this is something we think could work really well for your something blue.

At the end of the ceremony, a lot of couples do be showered with a confetti toss, this is such a fun element and makes for a deadly capture for your photographer too. Why not get your wedding party, your nearest & dearest to shower you in a blue confetti toss.

Wanna look smokin’!? We love photos in open areas that feature smoke bombs. They are so dramatic and the finished results always look amaaaaazing! If this sounds right up your street, you could go for a blue shade smoke bomb and the photo will no doubt look unreal. You could also use this mega shot for your Thank you cards later down the line. With smoke bombs, definitely do your research beforehand, if you have a white/ivory dress – you want it to stay that colour right!? Also, definitely discuss the idea with your photographer in advance as they may have done it for previous weddings and may be able to recommend where to get reliable smoke bombs from.

BREAK OUT THE DENIM:

Keep away the evening chills with a little something blue in denim. This may be more suited to anyone having a festival themed wedding or perhaps if you’re saying the I do’s abroad.
